    Hints and Tips during repair:

    ----------------------------------------------------------
The "Contact Service" message is caused by the EEPROM
    Component and itīs security check.
After changing any EEPROM, It must be "formatted" before
ANY new data is programmed. This is done when Full Factory
Default values are run. Without running this reset,
the IMEI/SIMLOCK programming will fail. This also applies
to models where the EEPROM is emulated in FLASH

    - If the EEPROM is not correctly formatted and the
programming data is loaded to the phone, the security checks
still fail and in this case the EEPROM must be changed
to another new one in order to make another rebuild.
In this sense, even an EEPROM is a one time programmable
    component.

    - After a successful rebuild the "Contact Service" message
is still shown on the phone display because the Flash
    authority checks fail.

    - This will be fixed after the phone sw is updated and
after reflashing MCU SW things work fine.
If the programming data from SSSW has been wrong, the
phone does not get service or the SIM card is not
accepted, but no more "Contact Service" messages
on the display at this point. If data is OK, the
phone accepts SIM card and goes into service (at
    least after tuning it).

    - Because of full factory reset ALL TUNING AND CALIBRATION
must still be performed, because all RF and EM calibration
    values are at factory defaults.

thanks for all the good hints!!

    just got one (noob) question:
what do you mean with: "ALL TUNING AND CALIBRATION
must still be performed"? please explain...

    thank you very much already!

Default values is not as the phone came out of the factory. All the phones have some sort of basic tune. For example on power level 19 (the lowest) an 8210 should be transmitting around 7 dbm of power, When reset to factory a good one will do around 8 or 9dbm. The receiver is also out of allignment. I have not tried this yet but I have been reading about a few people using 6250 software in there 6210's and complaning about the poor 1.8ghz performance. This is probably cause by the lack of any tuning after the conversion.
