Arggghhh another nokia 6600 problem

Can anyone help?

My nokia 6600 has decided to stop notifying me off text messages and missed calls. Instead of playing the message sound and displaying the "1 new message - show or hide" message, it just displays the little envelope, and doesnt even vibrate. Its pretty annoying to say the least. There are a few messages that it wont let me remove from my inbox and draft folder as well.

Also, the missed calls no longer display either, you have to actually enter the log, and then the little missed call symbol gets displayed, but still no message saying 1 missed call.

I have my messages stored on my mmc, but no mp3's on there as far as i can see.

Any sugggestions other than formatting the phone? I cant get nokia data centre to sync via b/t with my phone, so a complete backup is not easy.

Any help would be apprecaited.

As I've already told a guy before in this forum, this problem happened to me too. The only workaround for this that i found was:

1) Turn off your phone
2) Remove your MMC
3) Turn on the phone without the MMC
4) Turn off the phone again
5) Insert the MMC
6) Turn on the phone with MMC inserted

Now the alerts should be working fine. I don't know why this works, but trust me, it does
