plz help - newbie q's

will a cingular samsung sgh-x427 dual band phone work on a CDMA network that isnt cingular - providing that i have it flashed by my wireless carrier? i had a nokia 3585i that was a simple freedom prepaid phone, and had it flashed - worked great. i wanna upgrade from my old reliable nokia 3285, and just "happened" upon this awesome little cingular phone.

i have emailed my wireless carrier with the same q', but it'll take em a while to get back, so i figured i'd get a faster answer here, which will either motivate me to buy a charger, or sell this phone.

Cingular doesn't use CDMA phones but TDMA or GSM, which is the one you have.
