7600 bluetooth problem??help me out again

why my phone cannot detect active devices and paired devices..even when there are active devices around w/ thir blue tooth turned on... the other phone could detect my phone but i couldnt detect them.........help

you made sure that their phones are "visable to all" as there is a setting which hides your bluetooth connection
