    Nokia 6230 DKU-2 Cable problems

i have just purchased a DKU-2 data cable for my 6230 phone. I want to be able to move pictures/video from the phone to my PC.
I installed the cable drivers first then installed the Nokia Suite Software. I've tried version 5.8, 6.0 and 6.1 and its not working!
The phone isn't being detected by the software. I'm using WinXP Home on the pc.
Any ideas on what could be wrong? The phone recognises the cable has it comes up with the message data enhancement connected. PC says all USB ports are enabled and all drivers are installed and working properly.

    thanks

    USB to SERIAL

Hi, the program in the file tells windows that the usb drive is a com port.. this makes the phone manager you are using think that you are running the phone on a com port while you are running it from a usb port

    Right

Go to nokia site and download the latest DKU-2 Driver and PC Suite 6.2 (if you must use PC suite you need the latest version for this phone)

Remove any trace of PC suite/DKU-2 drivers I think there is a utility on the nokia site.

    Restart PC

    Install drivers

    Restart PC

Connect Cable to phone then connect to a USB port

WAIT until it has finished install addtional drivers (about 6-8 from memory)

    Disconnect phone from PC

    Restart PC

Right if you use Mobile Media Browser 2.1 (Which is much better than PC suite) thats it your set.

    Install PC suite

    Restart PC

connect cable to phone and plug in to PC.

the phone should now be detected by PC suite if not change the connection settings so that it doesn't look on IR or BT

    Hi,

there is also another problem you may come across - I kept getting "unable to complete operation" - you need to give your MMC card a name in the gallery options "rename mem card"

then you can browse the phone from your PC.

neilheyes, I tried renaming the mem card, but it didn't work. Still says 'Unable to complete the operation' when I try to open the Gallery folder. If I drag a file from the computer to the Gallery folder on the phone, it attempts to transfer the file, but then says 'The phone rejected the operation'.

I'm using IRDA and can't use the phone as a modem either.. this is such a crock of sh#@!

Okay, okay, after pulling the phone out of the wall, I got it working. I rebooted the phone and now it works. Can browse the gallery and transfer files.

still can't get it to work as a modem though
