Need help unlocking an 8250...

I have a friend's 8250 (Australia, Optus, prepaid) and I managed to enter in the unlock code someone gave me, to which the phone said "SIM not restricted (checkmark animation thing)." I then tried a SIM card (mine) in there but it couldn't find my network (Canada, Rogers Wireless, Contract) at all.

So I tried to generate another code, maybe the first one didn't work, right? But it only gave the same message, and it still can't find my network... any ideas? I've already tried Manual network selection from the Network Selection option in the Settings menu (4-7-6) but it still couldn't find the network...

the 8250 uses 900 and 1800 MHz freq

The canadian newtorks use 1900...it will not work, you need a triband phone....8250 is dual band
