Hi. I want to buy a new phone, but i don't know which one might be better? I want to take photos and they need to look good. Which one is better?
There are no photos taken by a production model 6630 out yet, so no one knows how they look. Supposedly they will be slightly better than the 7610's due to a larger lens size. But I wouldn't base my choice on that yet. Wait until the 6630 comes out in November.
Technically, the 6630 will be better. It has a higher resolution and a higher digital zoom, which doesn't really matter, it just makes life a little easier (I'm assuming you know what digital zoom is). Its video camera program will most likely be better. If you're looking for a more powerful phone all around and don't mind the size compared to the 7610, the 6630 is hands down the phone to get. It has faster internet, a more refined OS, possibly a faster processor, a slightly better camera, better memory features, and support for more accessories (e.g. bluetooth keyboards and printers).
Unless you're intent on getting a smaller phone, wait for the 6630 or the next generation after that. Check Nokia's site for dimensions.
P.S. I was tempted to get both the 7610 and 6630, but after considering it, neither is a huge technology upgrade from my 3650. I think i'm gonna wait for newer better things. But if you're looking for REALLY incredible pictures, smartphones will dissapoint you; get a digital camera.
I have a digital camera but i need something that i can have in my pocket or hand always and be able to take a pic, digital camera is to big and carring it around all day isn't a good idea. I like to look of the 7610 more, before i had 3650 and it was to big, now i have 6600 still big almost no difference between 3650. Do you know when nokia will introduce some new phones with cameras like 3 megapixels? I know Samsung had a new one which is not available in the us, it has 5 megapixel camera. Thats cool. And other phones like samsumg and others have more colors than Nokia has, is Nokia sleeping, there a lot more better phones out there, they need to get some new phones and a lot better.
those phones you see are made for Asian markets, primarily Japanese. Wireless technology is ridiculously more advanced there. They have phones with 3 MP, terrestrial TV antennas, VGA screens, broadband internet, and playstation quality games all in one phone. Moreover, their networks are more advanced. But don't compare western markets with eastern ones.
The rest of the world is stuck with around 1.5 MP and mediocre technologies. Nokia focuses on the western markets, and therefore does not produce such high-quality phones: Japanese tech. companies can do it for much cheaper since the technology is such a commodity there. If you made a 5 MP cam phone and sold it in the U.S. for instance, barely anyone would buy it. But over there everyone's phone can play TV broadcasts and decipher the meaning of life all at the same time, since everyone is willing to buy such nice phones. It's no fault of Nokia's; it's simply too expensive to serve the minority of the consumers.
Anyway, if you thought 6600 was too big, you will think 6630 was too big. If you're intent on smaller size, get the 7610.
That is right, but Nokia almost hasn't changed nothing in their phones, the menu all almost the same in the symbian models and nothing is going on. I had almost the same things in a 3650 almost 1,5 year ago that i have now in my 6600. They should upgrade their phones.
easy solution to the "menu all almost the same in the symbian models and nothing is going on" problem: themes
Besides, comparing 3650 and 6600 and asking for a huge difference is stupid. They were never meant to be that different. They're almost the exact same phone with a different body, and Nokia only made 6600 to quickly address the flaws in the 3650 (low memory, screen quality, button layout). It was produced right after the 3650 came out.
If you took a look at symbian series 60 v7.0 (in the 7610) or v8.0 (in the 6630) I'm sure you'd notice differences, especially if you took advantage of them (e.g. themes, upgraded realplayer). But I'm really not sure what you're looking for Nokia to do. They don't want to add useless eye candy and frilly features to their OS's; I know it would piss me off if their menus were goofy, uber-colorful, and useless like most phones'. As I explained before, they wouldn't profit from packing the phones full of features. Going from 3650 to 6630 in two years is perfectly appropriate. It's quite similar to the difference between one of the first computers shipped with Windows 95 and one of the first with Windows 98. So I really don't know what makes you say Nokia's not upgrading their phones.
How about this: what kind of phone do YOU think Nokia should be producing right now?
It could be the size of a 7610 with a bigger screen resolution that in nokia 6600, a 2 megapixel camera or bigger, 262 000 colors would be nice, phones with these specs are even available in us, but not from nokia. When I'm saying that the same menu i mean the same functions. I have played with a lot Nokia phones, theren't many changes.
I'm glad that you know what you're talking about and didn't suggest some insane phone specs, cause some people come on here and have no f---ing clue what they're saying. But i'd like to point out a few things:
1) screen res. is the same in all symbian phones: 176 x 208
2) ur right, 262,000 would be nice. Personally, I'd prefer one of these new QVGA screens. I do think that was an unnecessary measure to cut costs
3) I'm really not trying to be belligerent or anything, but I can't find any examples of phones with more than 1.5 MP cameras in the U.S.
4) Yes, the menus are quite similar, but only because they work. There's no reason to change them. Mac OS was awesome and it was the same for years; still is almost. Nokia's made a few subtle changes you might not even notice. For instance, the camera program now includes both video and still cameras. In the options softkey, if ur at the top of the menu and you scroll up, it wraps around to the bottom of the menu, usually to exit. People might not notice how much easier this makes navigation. The phone's browser's getting better and better. Realplayer can now play MP3 and full screen vids. The 6630 has a word and powerpoint document viewer. Hell, a lot of PDA's don't even come with software as good as the integrated software in series 60.
Ok. You might be right, they aren't available, i think i seen some but i'm not sure. I know that Nokia should move and upgrade some stuff.
