3390 Unlocking: Defective cable or WinXP?

Sorry I'm a total noob to this hope one of you can enlighten me on this.

I'm trying to unlock a 3390 under WinXP using a F/M switchable cable and Eeprom Tools. I have Userport running, and Eeprom was also running comp mode. But I still get the 'phone not connected' error msg.

So I've come to wonder if I have a defective cable, or it's WinXP? Obviously I'm doing sth wrong. Any insights greatly appreciated! Thanks.

I never got eeprom tool to work under XP BUT when I tried Nokia Tool by Rolis version 1.8 and set compatability mode to Win98 IT works
