Nokia 6230i MMC card problem

Evenin,

I've bought a larger MMC card for my 6230i, its a Kingston MMC+ 1gb.
I bought it from eBuyer and checked the reviews from other buyers on the site before I bought it to see if it was compatable, all other buyers have formated the card and it works fine.

I've inserted the card into my phone and its recognised straight away, but when I try to access the card it tells me that the card is unformatted and then asks if I would like to format it. Pressing YES it starts the process but then I get an error message "Operation failed"

Anybody know if I'm doing anything wrong? or could it be a firmware issue?

Right, i've tried the card in a friends 6230i and it works fine.

Their firmware version is v3.40, is it possible that I need to upgrade the firmware on my phone? if so, where can I get it done?

Certainly it's possible, but it's possible that there is another problem, like a dirty contact or something like that.

Anyways, you can get the phone upgraded at a Nokia Service Centre.

dirty contacts most likely had same problem but then just moved memorycard whilst in phone and hey presto was fine, have this happen when i remove card and put back in and have moved card about and phone has read card no prob.
hope this does the trick
