make your own 3310 software? damn..thats a lot of work, as far as i know, nobody has done that yet here..we only modify flash file..maybe you meant customizing 3310 flash file..if so, search for old topics keyword: 3310

but have fun writing it, I think you'll need some kind of nokia development kit or whatever the guys use that make the *real*
nokia soft, and the start writing/modifying the wole thing

I'll eat my hat if you find anybody that can and is willing to teach you enough to be able to make your own mobile phone OS. Just remember that Nokia probably has a huge programming crew and have been working on their OSs for years. Just think how many man hours there are behind each mobile phone OS.

Anyway. Just think about how much work it would be just to type in a single command on a mobile phone keypad....

Probably the closest you will get is getting ahold of a PDA with mobile phone capabilities or with a mobile phone expansion jack (f. eks. an ipaq) that someone has made a linux distro for (f. eks. an ipaq)

nokia calls it NokiaOS..and for a good reason... its rather complexwell..maybe if u can get the hold of some phone's source code

but doubt we'll ever see that, coz otherways it would already have been released by some group already no?

and also..people working on a project need to program a little part, and they mostly don't get to see the whole source, so the chances of leaking are pretty small imho

Jupp. Nokia most likely protects their source code as well as, if not better than say f. eks. Microsoft.

And anyhow if there is anybody out there that actually could do this, why are they not working for a mobile phone producer or making their own phones?

and if they aren't...well, its still a huge programming job

and making own phones..well its more then programming..it has a big electronic side too..doesn't seem someting that u do on you're own

Nope. But if you have made your own phone OS that's good, it's probably not very hard to make a deal with some hardware company to produce the hardware
