3650 bluetooth audio ONLY for Nokia headset

Hi everyone,

All of you know that the 3650 has bluetooth audio enabled, right!

BUT...do you know that it only accepts NOKIA bluetooth headset??
Other bluetooth headset from SonyEricsson and BlueSpoon will not work with the 3650 when they are paired. Although it shows that it is able to identify other headsets but will not work with them.

Any 3650 owners with this problem??? Pls do share. Thanks.

yes must agree got an icon-20 skypower and that pairs but does not communicte from there so sounds right to me
i took it back tried another one of the same just in case with the same result

They dont JUST work with the Nokia hands free kits its more subtle than that.

The reason the hands free kits from Jabra etc dont work with the 3650 is that they rely on Bluetooth Headset 1.1 profile and it seems the all knowing and wise ppl at Nokia (cue the sarcasm) decided they wouldn't support that standard nooooo that would be far too easy and helpful no they would use, Handsfree profile and at the moment I believe only their headset supports this (typical, can someone say SCAM!!!).

Now for the good news, Jabra say they are releasing handsfree profile enabled headsets soon and anyone who has purchased the old ones which although they will pair wont work can have an exchange under warranty.

Now I would REALLY like to know where Nokia write this down because im buggered if I can find this information anywhere other than in the developers support forum (ffs).

It seems Nokia has shot itself in the foot again after the bluetooth audio debacle with the 7650, they really need to learn the lesson and follow the same standards everyone else is using OR at the very LEAST tell US the public so we can make an informed choice.

Are you sure that only Nokia headset supports audio profile?
As far as I know, SE has such a headset called HBH-60. This one shoud work on 3650 supporting audio BT.
Correct me if I'm wrong...

There may well be others that now support the Handsfree Profile, certainly now that the 3650 has launched using it I am sure all the manufacturers will relaunch their existing products supporting Handsfree profile, it remains to be seen if products can support both profiles at the same time or whether its a case of buying one or the other, this would be an extremely sad state of affairs and makes a complete mockery of bluetooth as a standard sadly.

All I can suggest is if you want a bluetooth headset for your 3650 right now is ask the manufacturer which bluetooth profile it works with, the trouble is this information is so obscure its difficult to find so asking your retailer is probably going to result in a blank look, lol.

Maybe we should start a thread and list the headsets and which profiles they use, I will start to snoop around for this info later today.
