    Help with 3510i Cable

    Hi,

I just recently bought a 3510 data cable for my 3510i, thinking the fitting would be the same but it doesn't seem to be.

At the back of the phone connector is a spring loaded 'bit' which stops the connector seating properly. I've got over this by taking the connector apart (luckily it's a screw together type) and removing the spring loaded 'bit'.

It doesn't seem to be very secure though, there are no clips on the phone to keep the battery and hence the connector in place like my old 3310.

Can anyone who has a 3510i data cable tell me how theirs is secured in place.

By the way, the latest version of Oxygen seems to work with the phone, Cellular essentials sees the phone but says it doesn't support RH-9.

    Haven't tried anything else yet

My god steve how long did it take me to work it out.................... yonks!

ill try to explain it the best i can,

as you prolly have worked out the pins go in that little rectangle near the sim card
. what you need to do is keep the battery injust pull it out from the side that its not connected in. make sure you leave the top bit connected!

then just slide the cable underneath the otherside (openside) of the phone there is a metal bit on you phone. it has a place for the springy bit to fit(on you cable)...... they are a perfect fit for the springy thing....

turn the phone on and BO!
    hope that helped

Thanks for that, I see how it is supposed to go now.
It looks as if I have a faulty connector though because I re-fitted the locking mechanism to the connector and fitted it to the phone but it still sits too high up on the phone for the pins to make electrical contact. Removing the locking mechism allows the connector to fit further down into the phone and the cable works OK like that.
I've contacted the guy who sold it to me and he says he's prepared to replace it so hopefully all will be sorted.
