    8290 unlocking problem!!!

Hi, I just received an 8290 data cable with FBUS and MBUS switch from ebay. I am having trouble unlocking my 8290 Cingular phone with Nokia Tools by Rolis 1.8 and Nokia Tool V3.21 by Jordik. I used these same programs to unlock my old 5190 and 6190 and had no problems but the program can't detect my phone on my 8290 in Rolis 1.8 it says "failed to initialyse local mode", Logo Manager can't detect the phone either when I have it in FBUS mode.
Please help....I am without a phone to used until I can unlock this one.
Don't know if this would help but the data cable I received has 4 pins (looks like it should have five) and it says on the label"For NKI 8210." Is there a difference between the 8210 and the 8290 data cable?

    Thanks in advance.

Try this. Also I dont think there is any diffrents between the 8210 and 8290 cable.

When using the program just press the padlock to unlock, if you have a flasher set, do back-up (full) first just in case.

could it be a problem with my data cable?
    Thanks

You have a Flasher set? if so I think you might have to unlock by the old flashing way.

Have you removed the foam bit that is round the pins?, if not then remove it, (so to sound silly but try to help you out here), also can you unscrew the connecter? if so you should have 4 wires soldered to the pins check this as well. If you need help on what colour on what pin ask.

What you can do if you get stuck is take the other cable and remove the end so you have the wires showing, remove the red and black wire and join them to the red and black wire of the 8210 cable, this way you know what is at fault.

I am having the same problem here, 2. I ordered a 8290 serial data cable online. And I tried 3 different unlocking programs already, none of 'em could detect my cingular 8290. Is there anyway that I could check if the cable is defetive or not?
