Assigning ringtones with the 7650

Hi folks,

I might be being dumb but can you assign ringtones to specific people or groups using the 7650?

yeh, go into contacts. in the when youselect someone click the joystick an press options to assign a tone to someone.

To assign a tone to a group, go into contacts and click the joystick to the right. in there you can set up groups etc...

You sure can.

You can do this in contacts.
Just press the joystick to the person you want to assign a ringing tone to then press options and then select ringing tone.

A better idea would be to create groups. you can assign 1 ringing tone for several people at the same time. its less tedious.

I tried to do that (same as my old 8210) but there is no ringtones option.

The list of items under contact options is:

Open
Call
Crete message
New contact
Edit
Delete
Duplicate
Mark/Unmark
Send Business Card
Contacts info
Exit

NO RINGTONE??? - Does your 7650 have this. Does it depend on firmware version?

Any other ideas?

thanks guys I have it sorted, thought it must be simple.

I just had to create a group and then I could do it. I just couldn't assign a tone to an individual person, it has to be a group.

You can assign to individuals.

The way i said works on my phone any way. It sounds to me like your pressing the options button before you click the joystick on someones name.

Correct. I'm having a bad day.

Would you believe I can crack programs, build aeroplane fuel metering units but I couldn't assign a ringtone to my home phone number?!?!?!?!?...
