Unhappy problems wit cable and 6510/6590

i've just posting to see if anybody in the world could help me out. i have a 6510/6590 and i just got a data cable for it. It is meant for 8310/8390 but supposedly it works for my phone. Well i put it in and turned it on. For some reason it doesn't recongnize the SIM card. The card is inserted correctly but it still says "Please insert SIM card." I don't know what's wrong, maybe it's not meant to be Can anybody help??

As above no expert but.... using the datacable that you have probably been supplied with, there is no possible way for a sim card to fit in unless u somehow make it smaller. In regards to the cable the 8310/8390 will work perfectly because the values are the same and the pins are identicle. By th way if anyone else would like to help i have a 6510 that security code, won't come off of. Tried using many programs etc. The phoneis V4.00. Every time it says unlock done then when i enter code, it reboots and asks for code again. Any ideas? Warning don't buy these phones!!! They are so unreliable and i have so many 8310/6510 in for repairs mainly due to software corruption!!

    Thanks in advance
