if you are using windows xp, this may be your problem.

try using eeprom tools or knok on a windows 98/me machine.

knok will calculate the faid on an 8250, you just cant do anything else.

i am sure knok v22 has 8250 in the drop down list anyway...?

you dont need to select the phone when doing FAID, so i wouldnt bother trying, thats for when you try flashing, so it has the correct start and end addresses etc and boot loader for flashing with.

the datacable functions, shouldnt need selecting the phone.
its allways 3210 for me when i do the FAID or a factory reset and it works ok for me in windows xp 7 in 10 times and windows me 10/10 times
