    Lightbulb The 7th Unlocking Code That Gets Generated...

    Hi,

    I've found an explanation for the unlocking codes that are generated by the dongles:

    1=MCC+MNC
    2=GD1
    3=GD2
    4=IMSI
    5=MCC+MNC+GD1
    6=MCC+MNC+GD1+GD2
    7=All Locks (Universal - multilock)

    So, what I'm wondering is that if the 7th code that gets generated is actually the universal multilock, then why does everyone hand out the other six codes that get generated aswell (wouldn't that just confuse people)?

    Or is there really a need to hand out all seven of the unlocking codes that get generated?

    Well, sometimes, if you enter the Seventh Code first, the phone says "Cannot undo restriction", that's why we then enter the 1ST code, 2ND code, and eventually the phone would be 100% unlocked...

    BASICLY... The Seventh code doesn't work always!

    Oh ok, so the 7th code isn't really a 'universal multilock'!?

    Is there like an advisable order of unlocking codes that you should try?

    Thanks for replying BOEBOE.

    I always do :

    5,7,1

    and that always works for me.

    Code 5 is the best I find

    Cheers djroj2001.

    Is the case that every time I correctly try a different unlocking code (from 1-7) and get a message like "Cannot undo restriction", I'm one step closer to my phone's counter getting locked?

    Or is it only if I make a mistake (and enter wrong numbers)?

    yeah thats right. Every time you enter a code and get an error message such as "Code Error" you have increased the Sim Lock counter by 1. You have a maximum of 4/5 attempts before the phone locks itself completely and can only be unlocked by cable and/or reseting the Sim Lock counter (which still requires cable).

    The message "Cannot undo restriction" actualy means that you have reached the limit and the phone is completely locked. You will only get this message after 4/5 wrong attempts.

    The error for a code being wrong or unsuccesful is usualy "Code Error".

    - I hope all that makes sense

    Andy, you've been a great help, I appreciate it.

    I've got two more queries if you don't mind answering:

    When codes have been entered one too many times and the phone gets completely locked, the phone will still work as usual, right? But if you still want to unlock it then it'll have to be done using hardware, right?

    Codes '5,7,1' work for you most of the time, right? Is it in only rare cases where they don't work?

    Thanks alot.

    Yeah, the phone will still work on the network it was locked to, but it can now only be unlocked by cable and software.

    I never have any problems with codes 5,7,1 : except for virgin 3510i, i have a lot of problems with those. But 9/10 times code 5 does the business. And if that doesnt do it code 7 or 1 will.

    Cool

    Have you got the version 2 dongle? That should work, shouldn't it?

    I've read that you need to try network code '23400' for new models like 3510i on Virgin (instead of '23430'). Is that what you do?

    Yeah I've got version 2, but it's still got problems, I've only unlocked 1 succesfully out of about 4 attempts.

    There's a divide in opinion on which network code to use, some say its T-mobile (23430) others will tell you it's (23400). Neither has really worked for me, but usualy I use 23430. Also you gotta watch out for 3650 AT&T, that cant be done either.

    Oh! There's so many things you need to know...! Why can't it just be straight forward enough!
