Customer can't enter unlock code

I have calculated unlock codes for a customer with a Nokia 8310 on T-Mobile 23430.

He is convinced he is entering the codes correctly, but the phone doesn't do anything after the final '#'. ie he enters #pw+code+1# and nothing happens. My feeling is he must be doing something wrong, but what? Or is there something I don't know about the 8310.

Any suggestions appreciated.

Tell him to try code 5 then 7 in that order, 5 should work and unlock the phone
