    8390 modified for GSM900/1800?

    Hi!

I've read that the newer 8390 for GSM1900 is extremely similar to the 8310 for GSM900/1800. Does anybody know if these are in fact the same phone and if there is a way to switch what "mode" it might be in?

    Thx!

    different hardware....

    Hello
The two models look alike and may have similar functions, but they have a different hardware. The 8390 is a 1900 MHz model and the 8310 is a 900/1800 MHz dual band. There is no "switch" for the modes, as the transmitter and receiver are build for different frequencies....
It is a bit like a radio, no way that you can "switch" an AM receiver to catch your local FM station You need a multiband/multimode to catch 'em both... and the 8310 is kind of a "multiband", here two bands 900 and 1800.
Newer models such as 6610 and 7210 (and others) can operate on all three bands 900, 1800 and 1900 and there are also "real" multiband/multimode phones that work on GSM 900/1800 and analog modes.
