Ressetting the FAID using EEprom Tools

    I need help...
I flashed my phone using Nokia Tools
Now I need to reset the FAID...
So I am trying to use EEprom Tools by B Phreaks with Windows 98 SE, but I keep getting the error "Phone not connected"
Can someone please step me through the whole proces being very specific..
ie. Settings, when to turn the phone on... Etc..
    Thankyou
    Seskin

You do realise you need a Mbus cable to set the FAID, not a Flash cable?

You use the flash cable to upload the flash then disconnect the flash cable and connect a Mbus cable (connects to your com port)

    Then set the FAID...

I would also reset to factory conditions after a flash upgrade.

    Gluck

(If you are using a Mbus cable, then say so and someone will help you with the settings)

    Just had another thought,

I am pretty sure "Nokia Tool by Rolis" (Ver 1.9) has FAID setting...

But it also has auto setup (so you don't have to do any settings yourself.)

Just click on the ladybug symbol, and it will automatically set up the program...then set the FAID.

    Hope this helps

    Bob

    <EDIT>P.S. Actually, it's "Noktools by Rolis v1.9"</EDIT>

Seskin as Bob says it may be easier to use Noktool 1.9 rather than eeprom tools! If it still doesn't work try in a different COM port.

Any chance of calling me Bob

Yeh, as Nokiacrazi said, a different com port may work...Eeproms never worked for me (Then again, I am on 2k)

    Cheers

To get eeprom tools to function you need to set the check boxs correctly, look at pic attached!!!

    @ Chunkhead

That only works if you are using Eeprom Tools v4 otherwise u don't have that option in v3.1.

    Well get version 4 then!???

    Just a suggestion,

When I use eeprom tools 3.1, on the first click of the mouse I ALWAYS get phone not connected or cant match ppm version or similar but when I click for the second time it usually carries out operation.

There is a reason why there is a Version 4 of Eeprom tools! It has been fixed of bugs and improved! If it's not broke, don't fix it! Great saying, but I think in your case it is broke! Upgrade to v4.0 and get the problems out of the way! A 3yr old could operate it!

only probs I have with eep 4 is the fact that my downloaded copy does not have the imei engineering facility, apparently you need to register it. Is that correct?
