Unlocking probs

When I enter the unlocking codes into my Nokia 8310, it says "Cannot undo restriction". What does this mean, and why is it unable to de-restrict my phone?

It means that

1. you got the wrong code
2. you have the right code but type a wrong code in to many times
3. the phone is already unlocked

if it is 2. you will have to direct unlock it if the phones software is below 5.57 use a datacable and dcct-4 tool by JIC if it 5.57 or above you have to use a DCT-4 unlokcing box like griffin.
