Unlocking 5210 help please

Please help me i am a total newbie at this. I have read through alot of the articles and downloaded alot of software but all i want to do is unlock my phone(5210) and make snake work again. do i have 2 update the whole software and if i do how do i do it. E.g what software. i have ordered a standard 5210-8210 cable . Any help would be appricated.

Quickset FAID, Reset User interface settings, Reset Full Factory Settings, Reset SP Locks, Set new IMEI, Use original IMEI, Quickset faid! In that order!
