    T-9 User Dictionary

    Hi Y'all ...

I'm just wondering how to transfer the T-9 User Dictionary of a 3310 to another 3310.
Wanna upgrade my G/f's 3315 to V6.07 but she doesnt want to have to teach it all the words again - which is what happened when I upgraded it to V5.57 ...

Browsing through the 3310 Service manual I found that it IS possible with standard Nokia Service equipment, but how can WE do it ?

read , save and re-flash a specific area in the flash?
Will this be possible to bite a chunk out of V5.57 and insert it into V6.07 ?

    Questions, questions, questions

    Hi,

If U only flash the mcu & ppm, I'm 95% convinced, U will keep Ur 'added' words.

Since U will maintain Ur own eeprom area, where those are.

But some upgrades also require a factory reset, since it might use different addressing.

To be secure, read the whole phone first, mcu, ppm & eeprom.

That way, U can always undo Ur later experiments.

    Good Luck

U can checkout anytime U like, but U can never leave!

thanx, now i have a basis for experiments ....
summing it up: User Dic is in EEprom Area, and a Full factory will overwrite this ... right?

Yep, that's right I believe. Full factory reset wipes the options in the Eeprom back to their predefined values. However, stuff like IMEI, dictionary and ...certain other stuff stays there since these aren't really options.

    Cheers
