Red face 8310 making life horrible

    Hello every body

I have Nokia 8310 and am using it since last one and half year. When the phone was in warranty (first year) I remember it used to switch off while I was playing game on it or using voice recorder feature but I did not care about it. Now for the last couple of months I have been facing some strange problems.

Some times it does not show the last dialled, received or missed calls or all of them washes away. If I use the voice recorder it erases all the phone memory containing contacts.

If I want to send the messages some times it takes too long after I press Send option and then it asks for the message centre number. If I give the power reset then it does not ask message centre number and does send the message.

More over since the time I have been using the SIM of mobile operator here is Saudi Arabia, it gives me the messages like “SIM Card Rejected” or “Unauthorised SIM card”. This happens mostly when I turn off and then On the phone. By giving a few power resets it starts working.

Is some thing wrong with the hardware or just the software of my mobile.

More over I am very disappointed with the customer services of Nokia. I have registered the complaint on Nokia Club and they are asking me to pay the charges of repair where as I believe that this is some thing manufacturer fault and they should do it free of cost. This is nothing to do with the mishandling or the normal wear and tear.

Due to this reason I have decided to move to any other vendor like Sonyericcson.

Any help and suggestions would be welcomed and will be highly appreciated.

unfortunately with the phone being outside of the manufacturer's 1yr warranty, it seems unlikely that Nokia would consider fixing the phone free of charge... leaving the owner (in this case... you) to have to pay for any work done on the phone. I had a similar situation with my old 6210 - it kept rebooting randomly, and I found it was a common fault with the handset - Nokia said as it was out of warranty, I'd have to pay...
