    3310 and an F/M cable - conversion to 3315 doesn't work

Hi there... I have a cable that plugs into a serial port with a switch to select either F or M (presumably FBUS/MBUS)... it works with a logo manager and I can upload logos etc., but I can't get it to work with either that Rolis tool (at all, it just won't see the phone there) nor that DOS tool that's © Nokia. So, what settings do I need (FBUS/MBUS/MBUS2/COMBOX etc etc etc) for both programs, because I've tried everything and cannot get it to upgrade to 3315.

    Cheers,

    Rob

Get NokTool by Rolis 1.9. The switch should be set to "Mbus" (or just "M"), when using with NokTool.

Switch on the phone. (While obviously connected to the cable)

Then click the lady bug symbol (Auto setup). (It should find the phone).

Remember to type in *#0000# to check your firmware version before upgrading to the 3315, since an firmware version below (?)5.57(?) will not be upgradeable.

    (I am pretty sure it's 5.57)

    Cheers

P.S. If all else fails, switch it to "Fbus" or "F", but technically you should have it on pure Mbus mode.

Yep, the SW version IS 5.57.

OK I'm not with the phone at the mo, but previously I had the phone switched on and connected before loading the Rolis software - could that be the problem? Other than that I tried everything and it talks about how it can't initialise locally or something.

Very odd . Please check if the phone is being read properly, here's how I do it:

    Load up Rolis
    Turn on Phone
    Wait for PIN request
(Click on autosetup when running for the first working time) <-- What message do you get here? (Should say phone found on ComX)
    Click on read.

Make sure it can read the phone properly

    Cheers

What version of windows are you using?
If it's XP or 2k you'll need to install userport (see FAQ)
and mess around with some compatability settings.

Can you read the phone info with the tools you're using?
If you can, then you know the phone and pc are talking to each other at least!

No, it just can't find the phone on the COM port.

I was on XP, but found a Win98 PC to try it on. LogoManager can find it on FBUS mode, so am I to assume that the MBUS mode of my cable doesn't work or something?

Yep, when I set the cable to M mode and LogoManager to use MBUS mode, it doesn't work.

So, it looks like only the FBUS mode of my cable works. That'll be the problem!

A trip back to my local market I think...

Well, FBUS is about the same as MBUS, but faster, full duplex, can handle larger packet sizes.. I don't get it why you would want MBUS anyway..

Because the tool only supports MBUS.
