Can anyone please help me unlock Nokia 8290? I have data cable

I also have a data cable but when I run EEPROM tools, it says Phone Not connected. Also, on the data cable, there's a switch for M and F. I don't know which one to select. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

When unlocking your phone use M, which is MBus.

Thanks Sandy but it didn't seem to make any difference. It still says Phone Not Found. I've tried with NokTool18 and it couldn't find the phone either? I'm using Windows XP, is that a problem?

I'm using XP too. I've had no trouble with NokTool18 however Eeprom Tools sometimes reads the phone and sometimes doesn't. Don't know the cause.

First of all, have the phone switched on before you run NokTool. Then run NokTool and press the little ladybug button. This is the auto setup and will find which com port your phone is connected to. Try this and see how you go.

If this doesn't work, maybe there is something wrong with your cable.

Thanks Sandy, but it seems my cable may have a problem. It doesn't detect and says Check Mbus cable. I bought the cable a long time ago but never had a chance to check it out. I guess I should have tried earlier. Thanks for all your help though.
