SMS counter

I have a 3330, and before you all think that im some newbie posting impossibly daft questions i would like to say im not and read on!!

OK, if you have a nokia 3330, or any nokia, go into nemonitor (u need it enabled, but you should know that!) and in menu 65(on 3330, not sure if its the same on ne other dct3 nokias tho) if you press and hold star whilst in that menu the help txt appears, and at the very bottom of the screen it says SMS counters...now at this point i think cool, can nokias record the number of texts we send, but im not so sure, as when u press and hold star to return to the numbers there is nothing in place of where SMS counters was before. Does this mean my sim card doesnt allow this feature, or what is this function for?? Any help or comments would be greatfully received.

Also, as i would find a sms counter very useful due to being on contract and only having so many free messages per month, is there another way of electonically recording on the phone just how many messages have been sent? (i do realise that i could keep a tally chart on a peice of paper, but that really isnt going to happen!)

I would be very interested to hear from anyone who wants to help the developement of such a feature, or anyone who knows/has any idea how to go about it, or even if there is an easy way of doing this...thanks for reading all this, and any one who knows anything about that specific netmonitor menu i would be very interested to hear what u have to say.

the "sms counters" is supposed to be empty, it is just to show you that you are on the sms counters page.

now, here is an example from my phone, with explanation from the netmonitor manual.

aa: Reason for last message sending failure.
bbb: Count of all MO short message attempts (MO=Mobile Originated -> sent from the phone).
ccc: Count of succeded MO short message attempts
dd: Reason for last message recieving failure
eee: Count of all MT short message attempts (MT=Mobile Terminated -> sent to the phone).
fff: Count of succeded MT short message attempts.
gggg: Count of all recieved cell broadcast schedule message (i have no idea what it is.. anyone?).

Thanks for your reply, that was a great help...gives me something to build on anyway. Is there a way of creating a shortcut to a particular part of menu 65 in net monitor for acting as an sms type counter? Like we can make shortcuts to normal menus with g3nolite...neone got any further ideas?
