nokia pc suite connection problem(please help)

i would like your help...my pc have crashed a week ago so i needed to fix it...so i formatted the hard disk installed winxp and anyway after hours of happiness i realised that when i finished installing 3650 pc suite i couldn't and still can't connect my phone with the program...i can send and receive files from my pc using ir but when i startthe pc suite is says connect your phone and press ok...i press ok but nothing happens...
i'm not stupid ...before the crash problem of my pc everything was just fine...i used pc suite many times and my phone was connected...
the point is that i can't connect so i can't back up (i'm afraid that something bad will happen and i will lose my contacts and sms).
+++i can't install .sis files to my phone because i have never (in my new version of pc) connected my phone to pc suite..
    please help me...
i'll be glad if you will
P.S.i know almost every kind of problem but yet i can't deal with this...
    ps2.i'm not a starter

i have that problem evrytime i format and reinstall xp. and i always fix it.

make sure you have those essential icons in the taskbar running, and click 1, (cant remember which) and tell it to detect with ir.

then try connecting the fone again without pc suite running and see if the pc shows that icon of ir working, hard to explain sorry, then load up pc suite and try.

if it still doesnt work, restart the pc and try again.
if it still dont work make sure you have ur ir port configured properly.

    hope that helps

Assuming you are using IR in WinXp.

There will be a mrouter icon in your taskbar. Double click on it. You will see an infrared option on it. Check it and try connecting with your phone.

Also (this is important) when you activate the infrared option on the phone and keep it next to the port, windows will ask you whether you want to send files to the phone and click on the balloon if so. Donot click on the ballon..

Ideally what this would do is allow mrouter to make a connection to your phone. You will see the grey disconnected cable icon turn green, blue and everything should start working

Also turn off any firewall you may have up running.. If you havent configured those properly, depending on the firewall they may interfere

    Hope that helps
