i have one more question, if i want to use t-zones(a tmobile service) with this phone, how should i go about doing it. my old nokia 6610 was bought from tmobile and it had a direct link already installed.

if the phone is locked to t-mobile (usa) your unlock code will be:

#pw+772500203067307+1#


about t-zones:
if the other phone (the 6610) just had a link to t-zones, you may ask t-mobile to give you the address so you can create a link. you may also have to get the new connection settings, these can be sent by the provider via sms.
if the t-zones link is under "fun&info" menu - it is a sim service, and it should be present when using a t-mobile simcard.
if there was a menu for t-zones in the main menu - the only way to get that menu is flashing the phone, again - t-mobile might help you with that.

if you can get access to a serial mbus data cable you can read the network code from the phone

Try this test code it will tell you if your fone is locked or not

Fone not RESTRICTED = fone unlocked
Fone RESTRICTED = Fone is locked
post wat ever the fone says
so i can see if ti is loked or not
