Hi guys,
I recently visited a site which says that SIS files can be executed on series 40 phones. Is this possible? I don't think so as I think SIS format is specific to Symbian OS.
Hi guys,

It can't be done and to make sure im not a liar i tested it with a very small symbian program. Too bad I think at least they could attempt to make a program that would allow tv remote control that would be great. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. I just went ahead and got a symbian phone (N-GAGE), but I love my 6610 its going to be my actual phone for a long time. The ngage is just a toy, but a good one hehe.
Let me get this straight for you:
JAR and JAD are the only file extensions that *may* work on Series 40 phones. Sometimes they don't because they are for the large screens of Symbian phones (eg 3600, 3650, 3660, 6600, 7650 and N-Gage)
JAR, JAD and SIS are the only file extensions that work for Symbian. JAR is just the Java Game, and Symbian phones don't really need the JAD. SIS is the Installation file for games and apps. But it is mainly for applications though.
Conclusion: SIS is only for Symbian phones such as 3600, 3650, 6600, 7650 and N-Gage!
