Sim Lock - Please help me - *0141#

Hey guys, i was having a look around the various forums and came accross various unlocking tricks, one listed stated to enter the code *0141#(send) and you get a personalised message appear. and wow - it did, but now the phone is locked to my sim card and i cant put any other card in there, not even the same network. i just get prompted to enter a password to disable the sim lock. i have never set this lock in the security settings and can only conclude that it was the *0141#(send) code that i entered.

Can anyone please tell me how i can remove this lock? i read somewhere that the password was set to 00000000 but i tried that and nothing, any help you guys could offer would be gratefully received.
