I'm not sure where to post this, but i think here in Lounge will be ok.

Well, I'm going to New York on December, and I'm planning to buy an UNLOCKED GSM Phone, but i'm quite sure that these UNLOCKED phones are not so easy to find... not that they are "illegal", they just don't come directly from manufactures (am i wrong?), so people who sells UNLOCKED gsm phones they did it themselves... unlikely in Hong Kong, where most of the Mobiles Phones are all UNLOCKED from factory.

Ok, my question is:
Does anybody know a place in NEW YORK CITY (with directions or a website) where i can find good Unlocked phones? Some place trustable (i'll bring my SIM CARD anyway to test it).

How does it works in the USA when you look for an unlocked phone? I've een to Dallas and Orlando last year, and i couldn't find those, but i hear that Miami you could find em easily, so i hope in NYC too.

I know that I can't find those in stores such as: CompUSA, CircuitCity or BestBuy, these are all "must have service", or a montly plan, wich are all useless too me. It's so "weird" that these kind of phones aren't Illegal and how hard is to find those in the USA (or i wasn't looking right).

As they say, you can find "anything" in NY City. It may take 2-3 hours of searching smaller phone shops, but someone will definitely be able to help.
