Nokia 6230 comes up "insert sim"

I have a nokia 6230 that was water damaged. I cleaned with PCB cleaner thoroughly and got the phone to power up. Now when i put a vodafone sim in it doesnt detect it. (the phone is locked to vodafone). The phone wont unlock via codes and wont detect any other sim cards other than an old ORANGE sim that i have. Anyone got any ideas how to sort it?

this is an old post but very common problem with these phones i have noticed... this is caused by the very small shiny BGA next to the SIM Connector... this is a "SIM Switch" which detects the two different SIM technologies (is it 3v &5v?) anyway this is old and new type SIMs... if your phone says "Insert SIM" then its more than likely this BGA... If you cant replace it then your phone is unrepairable as a reflow doesnt fix it!!
