    Insurance Claim?

Hi members and experts alike, I hope you can help answer my query as I've heard all sorts of conflicting info on this.

    OK, here's the scenario...

Mr X lost his phone (Nokia 6170) so he decided to put a new claim in on his mobile insurance. This involved cancelling the line with his operator (T-Mobile), reporting the loss to the police and giving the crime reference no. to his insurance company, who would later issue a replacement phone.

However, after receiving the replacement handset, Mr X found his old phone and thought to himself 'hmm.. shall I keep this one and sell the new one on ebay?'

THE QUESTION: If Mr X puts his sim into the old phone and continues to use it and sells the new phone is he likely to get a letter through the door from the fraud department, or is there no way of tracing this, unless the IME no. is manually entered into say, a database?

Many Thanks in advance chaps & chapettes.

Mr X will find that his old phone is useless - barred from use on all UK networks. What would be better is that Mr X use his new phone - and sell his old one on ebay, clearly advertising the fact that the phone is barred from use on UK networks - but will work abroad. Mr X will be surprised to find that he gets almost as much for it as he would for a non-barred phone - trust me, I was that Mr X!!!!!!!!!!!!
