    Dongles

So i've recently started trying to get some of the better software out there to work on my nokia phones.

right now i have an old version of wintesla, that i haven't messed much with, and i also have version 7.05 i believe, but i haven't had a chance to test that out yet.

i'm also looking at trying to acquire nokiasoc2 or the ucables software, whichever you want to call it.

what i'm really curious about are these dongles that people are discussing. do both of these softwares require a dongle? i'm guessing if so it would be that pkd-1 dongle?

my main question here is, what are the main advantages of using a dongle over using some sort of emulator or crack.

specifically, which programs would i be able to use this dongle with?

also, what are the other types of dongles and what are they used for?

I contacted unique in the hopes that once his pkd1 dongle becomes available for sale that i would be able to buy one.

any insight into this would be greatly appreciated.

(btw: i'm very impressed by this forum and the amount of information available. it's hard to find forums these days that aren't full of people yelling and screaming at each other because they can't figure something out, and things like that. keep up the good work)

First thing you should do is 'mess' with your Wintesla and then mess with it somemore doesnt matter what version you have..

Hopefully you have an old phone or an extra to play with so you can learn what Wintesla does..Because having a dongle does you know good if you dont know how to use the program..

As far as your version 7.05 that doesnt exist... Meaning someone modified/hex edited that... The latest official release is v6.46

There are many types of dongles each typically made to work with a certain piece of software.

The so called 'cracks' and 'emulators' are fine sometime but typically they do NOT fully crack nor emulate the piece of software. Where then having the real deal would have its advantages.

yeah, you're probably right about that v7 thing.

when i go into help -> about, the ucimnen version number is 6.43.

so that's probably the real version number i have.

i made a post on the cdma tdma board about having problems with wintesla on the system i am using now.

i guess i'm gonna have to try installing the program on a few different computers to see if i still get the same results. once i get the program working right, i'll use it until i master it.

i've been messing with cellphones avidly for almost a year now, and i know that if i do get a dongle, that it's not gonna goto waste.
