8800 and o2 Staff

Hi there I have purchased an Nokia 8800 phone it has an o2 start up and shut down animation so I think it was on the o2 network at somepoint and they blacklisted it!!! Reason being it will only accept Orange sim card the other networks dont work (not tried t-mob) So I am wondering what is the best thing to say to o2 staff so that I can continue and use my o2 sim rather than change to orange and risk phone being blocked by all networks eventually.

I think we need to just check what you mean here:

Do you mean the phone is locked to a particular network in otherwords you can make and recieve calls on one sim card but if you put a sim card from another network in the phone says sim restricted.

If O2 have blacklisted or barred the phone then ALL other UK networks will very shortly blacklist it as well. As soon as the CEIR has been updated the phone will become useless in the UK

Only course of action then is sell it for use overseas as changing IMEI is illegal in UK.
