at&t nokia 8260

I have a Nokia 8260 which I had with AT&T, I recently switched my Cingular number to this phone, it works but the screen still says AT&T, is there a way to change this because I dont know if it's roaming or not .
I'll appreciate any help on this because I am pager tech but new at cell phones.
BTW I called Cingular about this and they say the phone should'nt even be working.

That's weird... it's actually running on the cingular network and still says AT&T...? I'm assuming you already checked the system and all that and tried going to the P/RSID menu and changing the connected system ID?

Update your IRDB. Ask if your provider supports OTA update, that way, they can send your new IRDB to your phone to correct your alpha tag, since the Alpha tag is stored in the phones IRDB.
