Is there no way to determine the network using the handset? or will i have to put an orange, vodaphone, virgin,02 and t-mobile sim in to see which one does register?

sounds to me like there blacklisted :-?
nothing you can do but throw them into the nearest bin or use them as expensive paperweights coz the only way you can get em working again is to change the IMEI which is illigal!!!!

What is a test code? I tried the previous codes and the phone said in Finnish "väärä koodi" which means exactly same as "wrong code" .
Also a STOP sign was displayed after code entered. nothing more.
