Cutting-edge interactive skirt comprised of Lumia 1520 mobile phones hits London Fashion Week 2014.

Nokia isn’t any stranger towards the world of fashion. This past year, we partnered with photography stories, Bruce Weber and David Bailey. We gave them the Lumia 1020 to capture their interpretation of “an intimate human inside a distant world”. The outcomes were quite special.

Now, Lumia is going to be starring at London Fashion Week 2014 putting Lumia at the disposal of fashion royalty. Or, on fashion royalty, don’t let say.

Together with designers and Fashion Fringe those who win, Fyodor Golan, Nokia has produced the world’s first interactive skirt comprised of 35 Nokia Lumia 1520 mobile phones, each sporting a 20MP PureView camera and 6-inch screen.

Because the skirt moves, images around the screens change colour, developing a synchronised twinkling effect that looks like real-world fabric. To create this illusion, a bespoke application was created that utilizes Gps navigation technology to align the wearer’s actions using the skirt’s sparkle.

Using a camera within the model’s cap, the variety-style imagery can change in the Fyodor Golan AW Collection to some visual representation from the model’s surroundings.

KIN, who labored with Fyodor Golan, referred to the gown as: “a wearable and experimental bit of technology”, ongoing: “we’ve designed and designed tiled video walls, and developed mobile applications, in addition to bespoke special camera applications, but nothing that can compare with this.”

KIN employed a mix of drew sketches, three dimensional-printing, and Python and C# programming languages to construct the skirt.
